DC Ferozepur directs drainage department to keep flow of water to avoid flood like situation at village Gatta Badshah

 

Ferozepur, September 3, 2019: Today, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur Chander Gaind reviewed the massive operation launched last night to protect the Berm from further damage at village Gatta Badshah on the banks of Sutlej River followed by a meeting with the officers of Drainage Department.  Former Minister, Inderjit Singh Zira was also present on this occasion.

 

Deputy Commissioner informed that to deal with any challenge of flood like situation, the Army, NDRF, Medical Teams and Boats etc. have been arranged keeping in mind that the people of the area may not feel any sort of problem in any eventuality especially for the protection of the crops of the farmers.

 

Deputy Commissioner listened to the problems of the villagers to which he assured to solve the same.  The villagers also informed that with the falling of soil from the corners and kalali, certain outlets have closed, due to which the water is flowing fast on the one side.

 

He said that if there is continued water flow, the villages will be protected from floods.  He directed the Drainage Department officials to construct new berms on the edges of the river, to stop the strokes of water.  Deputy Commissioner also ordered to immediately open the outlets so that there is regular flow of water.

 

On this occasion, Vivek S. Soni, SSP Ferozepur, Narinder Singh, SDM Zira, Pawan Kapoor, SE Drainage Department, Beant Singh Tehsildar Zira, Rajiv Kumar, Sandeep Kumar, XENs Harike Drainage, Golewala Drainage and Pargat Singh were also present.
