Corruption charges: Court dismisses bail application of DSP Bansal
Ferozepur, February 2, 2024: The Special Court in Ferozepur has dismissed the regular bail and his application of DSP Surinder Pal Bansal.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Surinder Bansal was booked on corruption charges by the local police in Ferozepur. Earlier, he levelled accusations against 10 police personnel, including a local station house officer (SHO), for involvement in illicit drug activities and connections with the drug mafia.
A team of Ferozepur police led by Randhir Kumar, Superintendent of Police (Detective) arrested Surinder Bansal, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Ferozepur city Monday evening on corruption charges. The DSP was arrested after seeking permission from a competent court under CRPC section 41(4). Earlier, Gurmej Singh, a close aide of Bansal was arrested while Bansal had been booked under sections 7 and 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
In the orders, it is indicated that it is admitted by the applicant in his bail application that some transactions were made by Gurmej Singh in many accounts including the accounts of his daughters. The allegations regarding the transfer of various amounts in the accounts of the daughters and wife of the applicant are of 8 serious nature and a thorough investigation in this regard is still ongoing.
