Cops bust bike-lifters’ gang, recover country-made pistol, bikes and mobiles in the border town
Ferozepur, November 23, 2018: In three different cases, the Ferozepur police intensifying the campaign against bike lifters and looters, arrested four persons with the recovery of motorcycles, mobiles, pistol and live cartridges.
Addressing the media persons in the press conference organized today, SP (D) Baljit Singh Sandhu said, the Ferozepur police team of J.S.Dhillon, Jaswinder Singh, DSPs and Pushpinder Pal Sharma, SHO have busted a gang of bike-lifters and looters and recovered six motorcycles, 8 mobiles, one country made pistol and live cartridges.
He further said, Sarwan alias Lamma and Jinder alias Jindri have been arrested and recovered one country-made pistol, four live cartridges and four mobile phones. In another case of looting of Jasvir Singh, two more arrests have been made of both – Akash son of Basant and Akash son of Des Raj resident of Basti Shekhan in Ferozepur with the recovery of two motorcycles and four mobile phones.
In another case, Ashwani Kumar of Mamdot has been arrested with two motorcycles. All the accused have been booked under the relevant sections of IPC and Arms Act and remand obtained from the court.
Further investigations are on and more clues are likely to come on the surface for recovery of stolen goods.
On asking about the increase in incidents of loot and lifting of bikes in the city, SP(D) said, with the busting this gang, we hope to trace all the thefts in the recent past. He said, under the special drive, 74 bikers have been challaned in one day. Even we have raided at PGs besides keeping an eye on old radicals. Hopefully, the petty crime graph will go down now.
SP(D) said, earlier the police force was busy for patrolling and round-the-clock nakas, being the second defence line, with the suspected entry of terrorists in Ferozepur area but we will now intensify the patrolling in the sensitive areas especially in the dark zones to put a complete check over the crime in the city.
