Rail Roko stir has no impact in Ferozepur, no train arrival or departure during one hour programme

Ferozepur, May 2, 2015 : On a statewide Rail Roko call for today by Partap Singh Bajwa, Punjab Congress President, the Congress workers remained at the railway platform from 12 noon to 1 pm to register their protest against the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and to highlight the farmers’ problem.
Earlier the Congress workers led by Inderjit Singh Zira and Parminder Singh Pinki were seen moving in two different groups. However, later on, all the workers jointly sit on the rail track and stopped the shunting power engine.
The Congress party has given a call against the alleged open loot of farmers in the mandis in the state. The demands include immediate lifting of the procured wheat stocks from the mandis and release of payments to the farmers who are facing harassment because of delayed payments.
Present on this occasion were, Parminder Singh Pinki, Congress MLA, Chamkaur Singh Dhindsa, District Congress President, Inderjit Singh Zira, former MLA, Anumeet Hira Sodhi, Amar Singh Dharu District General Secretary, Kamal Lali, Satkaur Kaur and others.
According to Vijay Kumar, Inspector RPF, an intimation of rail roko agitation was received for one hour from 12 noon to 1 pm near Basti Tankan Wali railway crossing but all the workers assembled at the main railway station.
The railway had made elaborate arrangements of security and detaining of train at the outer signal or one station ahead were made.
During this time, there was no departure time or arrival time. The workers could only stop the shunting diesel power engine for one hour. However, one train Jalandhar-Ferozepur at 1 pm landed peacefully at platform number No.1, when the workers have started disbursing by closing the agitation within the time intimated for the purpose.
Addressing the protesters, the Congress leaders alleged as to when the good days will come. – Acchhe Din Kab Aayenge. It is a fight between the Modi and Badal and farmers community is unnecessarily being harassed.
Speaking on this occasion, Parminder Singh Pinki said, in the democratic country, it is the right of every citizen to register his protest. The Punjab Government is in ICU with no adequate arrangements for procurement and payments. Because of statewide rail roko call by the Congress, the railways have stopped the trains on the small stations.
Criticizing the Badals, he said, they have restricted their visits to the mandis to know the plight of the farmers. It is only after the visit of Rahul Gandhi at Gobindgarh, part payment to the arthias/farmers were immediately released.
All the leaders also condemned the Moga molestation incident in the Orbit bus owned by the Badals.
Because of pre-planning of railways regarding movement of scheduled trains, the rail roko has no impact so far as Ferozepur in Ferozepur railway division is concerned.
