Congress gets opportunity to show to its worth now in 2019
Against all tall claims by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and new party Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and speculations of opinion polls, the substantial mandate given by the People of Punjab in favour of Congress party with more than 70 seats in the pool of the Punjab Assembly Elections 2017, it was a tough fight between Congress and AAP.
From the very beginning, the people had been speaking about the change and the next option was only Congress and AAP. But the SAD status in alliance with BJP will go to the third place in the most fiercest triangular contest was not expected at any level.
Despite alleged factionalism in the party, Capt Amarinder Singh’s strategy has done miracles by winning the majority in the Punjab with a chance to show its worth after waiting for full two terms. These five years will be more crucial for the party to show its strength after two years when Lok Sabha elections are due in 2019.
It is admitted fact now that ith this unique political development Capt Amarinder Singh has emerged as an undisputed and strong leader of Congress Party likely to pave way for national gain in the coming parliamentary elections.
The most interesting factor is that the senior leaders of all the parties including Capt Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Sukhbir Singh Badal, Charanjit Singh Channi, Manpreet Singh Badal, Bikram Singh Majithia, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring among others have retained their position as winners while prominent losers include Tota Singh, Daljit Singh Cheema, Sikander Singh Maluka, Sohan Singh Thandal, Anil Joshi and youth Akali leader Raju Khanna.
The most controversial Bains Brothers in Ludhiana as usual did not lose their shine and retained their respective Assembly seats in Ludhiana district.
Frankly speaking, there is no second thought now in announcing the Chief Minister other than Capt Amarinder Singh for which the Congress Party has expressed his gratitude to the people of Punjab for reposing faith in the party.
While AAP and SAD have accepted the verdict of the people of Punjab, the next five years time will be a sufficient time to plan their next strategy. The only thing to be seen in the coming days is that how the Capt react to his statements well before the elections against the SAD-BJP alliance government and plan his stratagem by taking the police and bureaucracy with him which are the major factor in running the affairs of the state.
