Central trade unions observe nationwide strike on Day 2

Ferozepur, January 9, 2019:  The two-day nationwide strike by Central Trade Unions to protest against the alleged anti-workers policies and unilateral labour reforms entered its second day today impacting normal life in the country.

Added here, The 10 central trade unions (CTUs) which have given a call for the two-day Bharat Bandh are protesting the government’s snub of their 12-point charter of demands seeking minimum wage of Rs 18,000, social security for all workers and issue related to price rise.  The unions have alleged that the government has failed to create jobs and grossly ignored unions’ 12-point charter of demands.

In Ferozepur, Punjab and UT Employees Sangharsh Committee today staged the protest in front of the DC Office under the tutelage of Ravinder Luthra, President, Surinderpal Sharma, Krishan Jagowalia, Balbir Singh Kamboj, Alvin Bhatti and  Resham Singh.

Speaking on the occasion, the Union leaders said, a further programme after the successful two days nationwide strike, will be chalked out at the Convention to be held at Jalandhar on January 19 at Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall for registering protest for the genuine demands like abolishing of contractual system, outsourcing and regularization of employees working on outsourcing, revoking of pension scheme for employees joined after 2004, release of DA instalments and arrears of 22 months etc.

Future agitations will also be followed by gheraoing of the Ministers.  In the next meeting of the Union on January 12, more strong actions will be announced to give a befitting reply on the anti-government employees, farmers and economic policies of the government.
