Cell phone recovered from Central Jail inmate

Ferozepur, June 14, 2017:  One mobile Samsung brand of black colour with SIM Card has been recovered from Jaswinder Singh son of Surjit Singh of Nizami Wala falling under Sadar Police Station, Ferozepur City – a prisoner at the Central Jail.

A case has been registered on the complaint of Superintendent Jail under 52-A Prisons Act under No.178 of June 28, 2017, said Raman Kumar.

It is not the first case, in the past also there have been recovery of mobile phones and drugs from the inmates of the central jail or thrown in the campus.

With the regular recovery of mobiles from the jail premises, the security arrangements at the Ferozepur Central Jail have once again come under scanner following the recovery of a cell phone inside a barrack of the jail.

Sources said the cell phones helped criminals threaten witnesses, besides making plans to escape from the jail. Sometimes, the prisoners also extort money while staying in the jail. The connivance of jail staff for reaching of mobiles inside the jail despite checking at various points cannot be ruled out.
