Simranjit Singh Mann said that now is the time to reject the politics of hate and stand in favor of prosperity, peace and legal responsibility. He said that the demand for opening the India-Pakistan trade route through the Hussaini Wala border is not only an economic one, but also a historical, spiritual and legal necessity.

For example,

  1. Farmers, traders and transporters, laborers etc. and the common people demand open trade.

The people of Ferozepur will be able to sell their wheat, rice, vegetables and fruits at a better price with the opening of the border.

  • Traders, especially those of dry fruits, cement, clothes and industrial goods, will be able to regain their lost markets.
  • Thousands of jobs will be created in the transport, warehouse, hotel and tourism sectors.

  • Opening the border can increase India’s GDP by 1%.
  • Regional prosperity will strengthen India’s image as a responsible nation worldwide.
  • Ways to connect with Central Asia will open, dependence on foreign ports will decrease.
  1. Response to false security fears
  • According to WTO law (GATT Article XXI), restrictions for security reasons are justified but only in accordance with precautions and rules.
  • Trade blockades do not increase security, but rather hatred.
  • Economic proximity reduces the likelihood of war, historical experience teaches.
  1. Exposing the politics of hatred: From Savarkar to Modi
  • Today’s actions are based on the divisive thinking of V.D. Savarkar, who made Muslims his eternal enemy.
  • BJP-RSS come up with anti-Pakistan jihadi slogans during every election.
  • Diverting attention from the real issues of the Waqf Board, the politics of religious affairs, and the farmers is part of this strategy.
  • Sikhs and other minority communities, who actually want prosperity and brotherhood, are suffering from this divisiveness.

  1. Sikh and Minority Perspective: Trade, Not Division
  • Punjabi culture, Sikhism and shared heritage have blossomed across the border for centuries.
  • With the opening of the Hussaini Wala route, cultural, spiritual and commercial relations would revive.
  • The principles of Sikhism, the welfare of all, demand peace and brotherhood.
  1. Danger of Unprovoked War: Need for Caution
  • Big-scale war talks increase the danger of unprovoked war.
  • True security lies in economic development, dialogue and justice, not in slogans and threats.

He said that India cannot be made a prisoner of the old politics of hatred. The time has come for us to reopen India-Pakistan trade through Wagah, fulfill legal responsibilities, give life to farmers and industries, and choose the path of peace. This is the voice of farmers, traders, workers and minorities. This is the demand of India’s constitutional ideals. This is the need of humanity.
