After drone sightings in border villages, BSF recovers 4.5 kg heroin near Indo-Pak border

Ferozepur, October 10, 2019:  The BSF troops have recovered 4.5 kg heroin worth Rs.22 core value in the international market, after drones’ sightings in border village continuously for the last three days, during its search operation near Basti Ram Lal border outpost (BOP) along the Indo-Pak border.

The BSF, Police and SWAT team had carried out the join search operation during the last three days and during this search operation, 4.5 kg heroin has been recovered.  However, the search operation is still going in the border villages where drones were spotted during the night. Earlier also, 2 kg of heroin was found near the Papa-V post in this sector.

As per the information, a CIA team from Fazilka along with BSF carried out a joint operation in the area and recovered three packets wrapped in yellow polythene and a 2-lit plastic bottle containing heroin from the field of Suhwinder Singh, just 145 m away from the BOP Pakistan’s Annoke situated 700 m from the site.   The recovery has been made following the inputs from Satnam Singh nabbed by CIA team from Guruharsahai.

Since there had been movement of drones in the border area, there is possible of its use for dropping consignment.  However, the investigation are going to ascertain the source of these drugs.

BSF officials are keeping a close eye on suspicious activities near the Indo-Pak border.  The drones were reportedly sighted in border villages but nothing had been recovered so far.

In the meantime, DC Chander Gaind has banned the use of drones in any function in the district for use of a drone for videography in any wedding, public, religious or social function in Ferozepur and villages near the border.
