BSF foils attempt to smuggle in consignment through new modus operandi
Ferozepur, August 28, 2022: The Border Security Force 116 Bn – BSF – known as the first line of defence at the international border touching Pakistan – foiled an attempt to smuggle of a heavy drugs or weapons consignment through new modus operandi by tying up the rope from one of the Sutlej river on Pakistan side to other end towards Indian side.
BSF personnel at a forward location noticed some suspicious movement in the Sutlej River near Shame Ke check post, near the international border and alerted the troops and found the rope tied on both ends of the river on India and Pakistan side. The rope used for the purpose has been collected by the BSF jawans.
This has however raised the question as to how the rope has been knotted on the Indian side over the Sutlej River and BSF authorities are taking up the matter with the Pakistan Rangers and investigating the possibility of involvement of some persons on the Indian side.
As per the information, a large consignment was to be sent through a rope of 2 km over the Sutlej River near the BSF post Shame Ke taking advantage of the rising water in the Sutlej River. However, Pakistan Rangers did not respond when the matter was taken up, a Flag Meeting was arranged at the Joint Check Post, which was still going on at the time of filing this report.
