Bizman shocked by Rs.1.16 crore electricity bill
Ferozepur July 27, 2018: A local businessman, Rajan Gupta, who is running Aggarwal Steel industry in Industrial Area, Ferozepur City, got the shock of his life when he saw the bill of more than rupee one crore, on the internet, for making the online payment.
Gupta stated that since the formal bill was not received and today was the last date of payment but when he checked up on the internet, for making payment to avoid disconnection but he was surprised to see the exorbitant bill of Rs.1,16,58,547. This bill is for the month of July with a deadline of July 23. According to the meter reading, the consumption for the current due month is around 3,000 units and the bill should be around Rs.15,000, he added.
Gupta, an entrepreneur for the last three decades has been operating his unit from Industrial Area where he has a connection 73 kva. He claimed that he had been paying all his bills which ranges usually from Rs.12,000 to Rs.16,000 on time.
He also shared a list of his payments and a copy of the exorbitant bill with the Babushahi.com.
When contacted, an official of the PSPCL – Punjab State Power Supply Corporation Limited – told that the bill might have been generated due to some computer-generator errors. However, we will see to it and rectify it accordingly and the consumer was free to meet him for the purpose, with a written request.
