Bhai Mardana Yadgari Kirtan Darbar Society to send 100 members ‘jatha’ to Pakistan on birthday celebrations of Bhai Mardana
Ferozepur, August 6,2016: Bhai Mardana Yadgari Kirtan Darbar Society will arrange to send 100 members ‘jatha’ to Pakistan, for five days, on birthday celebrations of Bhai Mardana and email to this effect has been sent to Muhammad Siddiq-u-Farooq, Chairman, Evacuee Trust property Board, Govt of Pakistan, said Harpal Bhullar, President, BMYKDS.
Bhai Mardana was the first Sikh and longtime companion of Guru Nanak Dev, first in the line of gurus noted as Sikh. Mardana accompanied Nanak on his journeys across India and Asia.
The upcoming Bhai Mardana Memorial at Ferozepur would be a “magnificent” building with “rare” architecture, said Bhullar. It will be a tribute to Bhai Mardana, a contemporary of first Guru of Sikhs Sri Guru Nanak Dev, this memorial to be constructed over 0.72 acres of land would have a state-of-the-art gallery with pictures depicting the life history of Bhai Mardana besides a music academy to train the budding students in classical Gurbani, he added.
Bhullar said, our society is working day and night for the last 12-13 years for erection of Bhai Mardana Memorial. He said, this is the first memorial of Rababi coming up in Ferozepur and work is going on speedily and it is hoped that the construction will be completed well before the birth celebrations of Bhai Mardana.
Present on this occasion were, Santokh Singh, Gurjit Singh, Jatinder Singh, Swaran Singh and others.
