Bhagat Singh’s 111th birth anniversary celebrated in Pakistan
Ferozepur, September 28, 2018: One of the most famous revolutionaries of the Indian independence Shaheed Bhagat Singh is a famous name even after his sacrifice and today the 111th birth anniversary of legendary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh was celebrated in Pakistan’s Democratic Lawn Lahore High Court Bar Association, where a cake was cut.
Earlier, the lovers of Bhagat Singh martyr had a meeting to celebrate this event – Hafeez Ur Rehman Choudhary, Rana Zia Abdul Rehman, Raja Zulqarnain, Sayed Manzoor Ali Gilani, Syed Almas Haider Kazmi, Mian Muhammad Bashir, Jalill Ahmed Khan Oathi, Alla Bakhsh Gondal, Ch. M.Ashram Cheema, Qamar Anum Inqlabi, Saith Bashir Ahmed, Mian Gulam Ullan Khan, Joiya, Muhammad Iqbal Mughal, Khubain Ahmad Jaam, Manzoor Ali Bhatti, Kashif, Mahmood Soloani, Sayed Shahmshad Hussain, Shahid Naseer, Shahbaz Rashid Qureshi, Ch. Mahboob, Yawar Maqbool – and today paid tributes to the great freedom fighter.
Abdul Rashid Qureshi Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan and Chairman Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation, Pakistan urged the Pakistan government to name the Shadman Chowk after Bhagat Singh as a tribute to the great freedom fighter. He is hopeful of his dreams when Lahore High Court has directed the Mayor to take a decision as per the law.
Added here, Qureshi – who himself declares the follower of Bhagat Singh, while in Pakistan and looking after the interest as an Advocate – is fighting for this cause in the Supreme Court and to prove the innocence of Bhagat Singh having no mention of his name in the FIR.
Qureshi is in contact with the family members of Bhagat Singh and normally visits India every year but this time, the visa has been held up without any reason. In 2016, he has celebrated the birthday of Shaheed Sukhdev – an associate of Bhagat Singh and Rajguru – with his family members Ashok Thapar.
Some narrow-minded people have threatened him with dire consequences but I will continue to fight for Bhagat Singh and will not back out. I have the full support of my family and my father –Abdul Rashid Qureshi – who was born in Abohar in Punjab of India – is taking care of all my cases being a senior advocate in the Supreme Court in Pakistan, said Imtiaz Qureshi over the phone.
Qureshi said, Bhagat Singh, is an icon for the youth as he taught the youth to fight for what was right without fear and to never give up. He also shared the famous quote of Bhagat Singh – They may kill me, but they cannot kill my ideas. They can crush my body, but they will not be able to crush my spirit.
