Saragarahi Foundataion organizes online paper on Battle of Saragarhi
Ferozepur, August 8, 2021: Saragarhi Foundation with active participation of a youth Congress leader Gurbhej Singh Tibbi organized online paper on Saragarhi to revive the history of Saragarhi battle by presenting a unique example of warfare by valiant Sikh warriors.
For many civilians, it has become a life’s mission to document the unparalleled bravery of 21 soldiers of 36th Sikhs pitted against 10,000 Pashtun Orakzai tribals in September 1897. Battle of Saragarhi was fought in the rugged mountains of North-West Frontier Province 120 years ago, but it still continues to inspire countless soldiers across the world. And for many civilians, it has become a life’s mission to document the unparalleled bravery of 21 soldiers of 36th Sikhs pitted against 10,000 Pashtun Orakzai tribals in September 1897.
The chief guests of the function were Maj. Gen. Balbir Singh and Lt. Col. H.S. P. Singh (War Museum) Manager.
An online paper was taken on July 28 and in this test, 56 people were selected from all over India on the basis of merit. The winners were selected on at Punjab State Heroes War Grand Final at Memorial Museum Amritsar in which 56 winners were re-examined.
On this occasion, Chairman of the Foundation, Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Jason, a resident of USA were also present.
They said that after taking the oral examination, first place went to Yashika, second place to Disha (these two sisters are from Government School, Ferozepur) and third place to Satnam Singh of Sri Muktsar Sahib. The winners were given checks amounting to Rs 21,000, Rs 11,000 and Rs 5,100 respectively by Chairman Jossan.
