Banned items recovered in “OPS Satark” in Ferozepur Jail
Ferozepur, April 2, 2024: To keep vigil against unlawful activities, substances and banned items and electronic devices in the jail, the Punjab Police and Prison department on Monday carried out a joint special operation named ‘Operation Satark’ – “OPS Satark”, in Ferozepur jail.
Sharing the outcome, SSP Soumya Mishra said, the searches led to the recovery of – 6 mobiles, 25 red coloured capsules, 15 white colour tablets, one data cable, 2 ice-breaking tools, one pen drive, one damaged single headphones and 2 sachets of tobacco, – from the barracks of the jail. The operation was carried out to ensure that the jails remain free from narcotics, mobile phones and other prohibited items. She pointed out that such searches would be carried out regularly.
On the complaint of Rishavpal Singh, Assistant Superintendent, a case has been registered against prisoners – Ramesh Kumar, Balwinder Singh alias Khundri, Ravi Kumar Ravinder Pal and Rakesh alias Kaku, under the Prisons Act for recovery of banned substances. The purpose behind the operation was to check for illegal activities in jails by thoroughly searching every nook and corner including the barracks, kitchen and toilets in the jail complex.
