Ashok Kumar becomes 412th Eye Donor in Fazilka

Fazilka, September 24, 2018: Realizing the importance of organ donation, the Social Welfare Society has motivated the local residents to inform them for donating the eyes after the death of any member of the family.

Added here, the Social Welfare Society is working for the last 11 years on this project and today Ashok Kumar, 51 years old has become the 412th eye donor from border town Fazilka.

Project Incharge, Ravi Juneja said, Immediately on getting the information about the death of Ashok Kumar,  a team of Social Welfare Society – motivated the family members of Ashk Kumar – his wife Sheeal Rani and daughter Shika and sons Deepak and Shivak and  with the consent of family members of deceased, Social Welfare Society members – Shahi Kant, Ravi Juneja, Sandeep Aneja, Rakesh Gilhotra, Mohal Damri, Avnish Sachdeva Sunil Sethi and Sarrvjeet Singh Dhillong, arranged the donation of eyes for transplantation to the needy person.

Added here, this small town has motivated the people of the area to donate the organs after death for study purposes  by the medical colleges and transplantation of eyes and so far more than 824 persons have seen the light of the day.

Media Secretary of society, Rakesh Gilhotra informed that Fazilka is on top of the list of eye donors in the country.  He said any body upto the age of 70 can donate eye even the same has been operated within six hours of death.

The society members appealed to the people to make a tradition of donating eyes on the death of family member so that someone could see the beauty of colors in this world.
