Ferozepur, October 18, 2023:  The Anti-Drug Drive by the police in Ferozepur has led to another freezing of property constructed through illegal means of drug business, valuing Rs.41, 66,472, after getting orders from the Competent Authority at Delhi.

The Ferozepur police are doing a tremendous job against drug abuse and showing no let-up in their mission to create a drug-free environment in the district.  The action of freezing the property of drug smugglers has been initiated for the first time to ensure that the empire raised by the drug smugglers from the narcotic trade is hit hard beyond their imagination.

By targeting both movable and immovable assets of drug smugglers, the Police have given a significant financial blow to the drug business; sending a message that drug peddling would not be tolerated.  The people of the district are appreciating Police action and urged the Police to continue their mission, which can save the lives of scores of youth involved in drug addiction.

With the freezing of one more illegal property of drug smuggler Harnam Singh son of Peshawar Singh resident of Palla Megha village falling under Sadar Ferozepur police station, valuing Rs.41,66,472 lac under NDPS Act 1985 Section 68-F(2) after orders from the Competent Authority at Delhi,  during the year 2023, the total illegal property to the tune of Rs.8,35,02,922 in 17 cases have been frozen so far.

Divulging with details, SSP Deepak Hillori said, a notice outside the house of Harnam Singh involved in the intoxicant drugs trade, had been pasted outside his house. A case against him was registered in November 2015 under the NDPS Act at Sadar police station and he was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment with Rs.1 lac as fine.  Harnam Singh had 49 marla house in village Palla Megha valuing Rs.2,12,000, his brother Mukhtiar Singh’s car Hyundai car of the value of Rs.10,94,214, Rs.2,60,258 in the account of his wife Mukhtiar Kaur, making a total value of the illegal property of Rs.41,66,472 has been frozen under NDPS Act 1985.

On scrutiny of the record, it revealed that Harnam Singh is involved in three NDPS Act cases in 2015, 2017, and 2019 and one case in 2021 under the Arms Act at Ferozepur Sadar, Jalalabad, and Ferozepur City police stations.

He said, 13 drug smugglers’ cases for getting freezing orders of their property under the NDPS Act have been sent to the Competent Authority in New Delhi and 15 more such cases are in the pipeline and we are working on the same.

In all the 17 cases so far, the property worth Rs.8,35,02,922 cr has been frozen, which the drug smugglers or any of their family members cannot sell or transfer, till further orders.
