During 483 mobiles recovered in 2023
Ferozepur, November 2, 2023: With the recovery of 5 mobiles from a prisoner – one from prisoner and four as unclaimed at Central Jail, during the search operation conducted by two Assistant Superintendents, the total mobiles recovery from inside the jail has gone up to 483 during the current year besides other banned items.
In fact, the mobile is the first need of the prisoners in the jail, to remain in contact with their family members or for use for some criminal actions to threaten the people, asking for ransom. The regular recovery of banned items has put a question mark on the inside and outside security arrangements of jail and the purpose of keeping the criminals behind bars, as punishment is lost.
Moreover, after registration of the case, investigation in such recovery cases is a problematic procedure as taking the prisoner for inquiry out of the jail is not free from security, especially when sufficient staff is not available to guard them. Thus, the matter ends with the registration of cases in such recoveries.
Giving this information, Gurmail Singh, IO appointed to investigate the matter informed that two cases against the under trial prisoner Nirvair Singh alias Gurvinder Singh alias Goli of village Chabba (Zira) have been registered under Section 52-A of Prisons Act along with the unidentified persons, on the complaint of Sarabjit Singh and Rishavpal Singh, Assistant Superintendents, as four mobiles were found as unclaimed in the jail premises.
