National Lok Adalat on September 14 in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, September 6, 2019: To dispose of several criminal and civil compoundable cases, pending at judicial courts amicably the next National Lok Adalat to be conducted on September 14, under directions of Punjab Legal Services Authority – PLSA, the National Lok Adalat.
Giving this information to the media persons, Parminderpal Singh, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority said, almost one bench, say 18 will be constituted in the courts of Ferozepur District at sub-division level at Ferozepur, Guruharsahai and Zira. As of today, 168 of civil, 1224 pre-litigation and 196 criminal – will come up for amicable settlement. Even 80 cases from Permanent Lok Adalat will also be added for settlement, with great enthusiasm. Since still there is a weeks’ time, another 500-700 cases are expected to be arranged for settlement in the National Lok Adalat.
The aim of organizing Lok Adalats is to finalize the maximum cases amicably which mostly relating to cheque bounced, matrimonial. The efforts will also be to include petty dispute cases.
He said, there are 45 para-legal volunteers doing seminars to create awareness among the people about the availability of free legal aid services. There is also 1968 toll free number available for getting any legal aid help but we cannot beyond the legal para-meters so far as extending the help is concerned. Another 35 dedicated volunteers will be inducted.
District and Sessions Judge further briefed that the judgement delivered in the Lok Adalat through compromise would be last and the final judgement of any case and it couldn’t be appealed in any other court.
