Nothing wrong in Sidhu’s hug with Pakistan Army Chief: Zira
Ferozepur August 21, 2018: Despite controversy over Navjot Singh Sidhu, Cricketer-turned-Minister’s visit to Pakistan to participate in the swearing-in-ceremony of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and hug with Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa; Kulbir Singh Zira, MLA Zira has come forward saying, nothing wrong has been committed by Sidhu.
Navjot Singh Sidhu too has pointed out that ex-PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee had travelled on the bus to Lahore and PM Modi, in 2015, made an unscheduled trip to Lahore.
Speaking on the controversial issue of Navjot Singh Sidhu, Kulbir Singh Zira said Sidhu’s visit to Pakistan was a personal visit and that too, with prior permission from the Government of India.
The hullabaloo has been cropped unnecessarily by the Akalis and some other political leaders, to become a part of headlines and to spoil the atmosphere of the state, said Zira.
Stating the precedents, Zira said, if the former Pakistan General Musharaff can come to India, former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee can go to Pakistan and the existing PM Narender Modi can go without any formal invitation and if the leaders like former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal are not anti-national, it is not understood as to how the Sidhu is being targeted by the narrow-minded political people?
There is also nothing wrong if General Bajwa had talked with Sidhu about the opening of the border on the event of celebrations of 550th birthday celebrations of Guru Nanak Sahib besides adequate arrangements for the visitors, said Sidhu. He further said the opposite political leaders should first introspect before speaking against Sidhu.
On this occasion, present among others were – Gursewak Singh Councilor, Harjinder Singh Khadoor, Surjit Singh PA, Dr.Jagir Singh Malhi, Baba Avtar Singh Chand, Madam Savita and other Congress leaders.
