Khaira targets Congress for denying justice to women on hunger strike
Ferozepur, June 2, 2018: Sukhpal Singh Khaira, Leader of the Opposition on his visit to Ferozepur today targeted Congress for denying justice to two women sitting on hunger strike for change of girdawri of disputed land in village Jhoke Hari Har which their family members were cultivating for the last four decades.
Since the Congress government has come to power in Punjab, it has done nothing other than the people of Punjab besides other looting and beating of police personnel.
Sukhpal Singh Khaira, the Opposition leader was here today in Ferozepur to join the protest rally when two women are sitting on hunger strike since one and a half months, about the disputed land of village Jhoke Hari Har.
It is alleged that the girdawri of the land has been changed which the farmers of Jhoke Hari Har were cultivating for the last four decades at the behest of local Congress leader.
Talking to the media on this occasion, Khaira said that the government which cannot give justice to poor laborers and farmers should resign from its position.
Accusing the Congress and Akalis, he said, the wrongs committed by the Akalis during their ten years tenure, the Capt government has surpassed them in just 14 months.
He said, the people of Punjab are not fed up from Congress also and would like to oust in the next elections.
Commenting on the governance of Congress government, he said, Amarinder Singh… the Congress leaders are slapping the policemen under your nose but you could not do anything.
Speaking on the disputed land of Jhoke Hari Har, Khaira said, in case the Capt government cannot give just to the women sitting on the dharna, the government building which gives justice should be demolished.
In a warning tone to the government, Khaira said, the agitation will be intensified in case the justice is denied to the women sitting on dharna.
Khaira also alleged that Akali and Congress now a day meet in the luxurious hotels in the Capital over fellowships. He also accused the Congress government for not fulfilling the promises made with the people before the elections. He also claimed that the Congress government could not shun the drug menace from the state within one month as per his own announcements rather the drug smuggling in the state has increased.
He also criticized the mining policy of the government as the mining business is going as it was in the previous government. He also demanded to make public the name of the persons involved in sand mafia irrespective of any political party.
