BSF Ex-88 Bn seizes 11 kg heroin valuing Rs.55 crore
Ferozepur, March 15, 2018: On 15 March 2018, Border Security Force troops successfully seized 11 packets (approx- 11 Kgs) of contraband suspected to be heroin in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post Ramkot, Ex88 Bn BSF, Sector Amritsar.
Keeping in view the vulnerability of Border, grown wheat crops and heightened activities of smugglers/ Anti-National Elements on border, Inspector General BSF Punjab Frontier has issued operational guidelines to all the Sectors under Punjab Frontier for further strengthening the border domination so as to effectively check the activities of Anti – National Elements on Punjab border with Pakistan. Accordingly, Deputy Inspector General, Sector BSF Amritsar directed Field Commanders to maintain extra vigil on the border to thwart the attempts of Anti- National Elements. Tactical Operations are being mounted to foil the attempts of the smugglers/ Anti-National Elements.
On the intervening night of 14/15 March 2018, Border Security Force troops on duty noticed some suspicious movement of Pakistani smugglers ahead of Border Security Fence in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post Ramkot, Ex- 88 Bn BSF. At about 0225 hrs, when Pak smugglers reached near Border Security Fence and tried to insert one plastic pipe in the fence to cross the contrabands consignment BSF troops challenged them to stop, but they did not pay any heed and kept their nefarious activity continue. To stop their further misadventure and in self-defence, BSF troops opened fire on the smugglers. However, Pak smugglers managed to escape taking advantage of darkness, undulating ground and high grown wheat crops. During the search, BSF troops recovered 11 Packets (Total Weight approx. 11 Kgs) of contraband suspected to be heroin and one plastic pipe close to Border Security Fence.
Vigilant troops of BSF once again thwarted the attempt of Anti-National Elements to push the consignment of Arms/Amn into India. During the year 2018, BSF has affected under mentioned seizures on Punjab Border:- Heroin : 92.410 Kgs (including today’s seizure of 11 Kgs) Opium : 290 Gms Indian border crosser apprehended : 19 Indian smugglers : 03 PAK SIM Cards : 12 Nos. Indian Mobile : 07 Nos. Indian SIM Cards : 08 Nos. Pak intruder interdicted 03 Pak smuggler apprehended : 01 Weapons (Different Types) : 10 Magazine : 16 Ammunition (Various Calibers) : 312 Pak Mobile : 03 Hand Grenade : 06 Nos Pak Currency : Rs.2080.
