Seven youths go missing in two months, parents demand SIT probe
Ferozepur, February 13, 2018: As many as seven youths have gone missing in Ferozepur district during the last two months and only has returned back too in a mentally retarded condition while the dead body of another youth has been recovered from Sirhind Canal.
As per the information, 180 children go missing in India every day and the position is so alarming that there was the sharp increase in untraced children of 84 per between 2013 and 201. The total number of untraced children in 2015 was 62,988 as against 32,244 in the year 2013. Moreover, the statistic is heart-breaking and sombre. Two out of three missing children in Inda remain untraced in a period of three years, the wait for them an excruciating see-saw between agony and hope for those who love them.
Giving this information, Sukhraj Singh Gora, Aam Aadmi Party leader on humanitarian grounds attended the press conference today at Press Club, Ferozepur along with the parents and relatives of the missing youths.
Giving the details of the youths go missing, he said, Sandeep Singh, 20, of village Dhindsa is missing since December who has gone to work but has not come back, Lovjeet Singh, 18, a student of Plus Two, of village Bhagali Naraingarh is missing since Jan. 10, 2108, Bhupinder Singh of village Botian Wala in Zira block since February 3, 2018, whose dead body was recovered near Sirhand Canal only on Sunday, Chamkaur Singh, 35, of Kothe Amberhar in Zira block who is married, is missing since February1, 2018, Kala Singh, 20 working with a liquor vendor is missing since February 9, 2018 from Sher Khan village near Ferozepur, Luvpreet Singh, 25, of village Mirze Ke in Ferozepur Rural missing since January 1, 2018, who was hale and hearty but when he has come back, he is mentally weak now and Jagandeep 18, of Zira is missing from February 12, 2018.
He said, while the dead body of one Bhupinder Singh has been recovered from Sirhind Canal, Luvpreet Singh has come back with the help of police in mentally weak conditions.
Expressing concern over the missing incident of youths in the district, the family members said, there is a need to make the in-depth investigation in all the cases to bring the truth to the surface. Rather the investigation should be done by constituting a SIT – Special Investigation Team, he added.
They also demanded that a permanent and separate cell may be set-up to investigate the missing cases.
He further said, a deputation of parents have met the police chief, who has assured to form five members SIT to go through all the cases of missing of youths.
On asking about the reasons behind missing of youths, the parents said, there could be the number of reasons, may be kidnapper's gang active in the state, study stress or personal enmity. However, in one of the case, they disclosed that in case the Lovjeet Singh who was very shining in his studies of Plus Two were to appear in a competition for selection of going to Japan on higher study basis but the school authorities are not disclosing the names of other aspirant students.
