In Punjab, Contract Employees to observe Jan. 24 as ‘Promise-breaking Day’
Ferozepur, January 22, 2018: The Contract Employees Joint Action Committee, Punjab, will observe as 'Promise-breaking Day' on January 24, 2018, in the state as despite passing of ten months' period of Congress government, neither meeting date has been fixed nor any agreed commitments before the election has been fulfilled.
Sajjan Singh, Imran Bhatti, Ashish Julaha, Rajinder Singh Sandha, Varinderpal Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Satpal Singh and Gurpreet Singh, leaders of Punjab Contract Employees Joint Action Committee said it shows the dilly-dallying attitude and negative attitude of the Congress government.
The employees have decided to observe Jan 24 as Non-promising Day to register their protest and remind the government of their promises made well before the elections, they added.
Sandha said it is very unfortunate that despite fixing seven times meeting time – 7 March 2017, 9 May, 20 June, 27 September, 28 November and 10 January 2018 – no meeting with the CM could be arranged.
In a satirical style, the committee will celebrate Promise-breaking day by cutting the cake at Jalandhar, Patiala and Bhatinda, by reciting the following lines – “Announced on Social Media, Will regularize every youth, Could not fulfil promise even on completion of one year, Congratulations to CM for Promise-breaking day”.
Leaders said it is not understood as to why the government is mum over the issue when there is no extra expenditure for implementing the Act passed by the Vidhan Sabha. It looks that perhaps the Chief Minister and Vidhan Speaker are not now aware of the agitation by the Suwidha Centre employees.
The Union will, however, submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister on this account, he said.
