Turmoil in Supreme Court is unprecedented: Kamal Sharma
Ferozepur, January 14, 2018: The turmoil in Supreme Court as four judges speak out against Chief Justice raising questions over the justice delivery system and allocation of cases, Kamal Sharma, former BJP President and Member National Executive Committee Meeting – who was here in Ferozepur today to address the media persons at Press Club Ferozepur, with regard to sitting on dharna on January 16 at all the district headquarters’ in the state – said that the roots of democracy in India are very strong but it is very unprecedented that the judges have chosen the path of media.
In a first-time move, the four senior-most judges of the Supreme Court broke ranks and publicly questioned the leadership of Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra.
The four judges, J. Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, Madan B. Lokur and Kurian Joseph, alleged that the chief justice was not following established precedents in an allocation of cases among the judges. Consequently, they argued, this was “adversely” affecting the justice delivery system.
Kamal Sharma said, the government is doing its best to resolve the issue and it is hoped the issue will be settled today.
