120th Martyrs’ Anniversary of battle of Saragarhi at Ferozepur
Ferozepur, September 12, 2017 : The state level function was organized at the historic Gurdwara Saragarhi Sahib Firozpur Cantonment dedicated to the memory of the martyrs of the battle of Saragarhi.

On this occasion, Manpreet Singh Badal, Finance Minister of Punjab, attended the function as Chief Guest while Cabinet Ministers Navjot Singh Sidhu and Sadhu Singh Dharmasot joined as a special guest.
On the historic Gurdwara Dewan Hall, Sri. Bhai Harnam Singh Hazoori Ragi Sr. Darbar Sahib Amritsar and Bhai Sukhjinder Singh Hazoora Jatha Gurdwara Saragarhi performed kirtan of the divine poem on which Bhai Harnam Singh Hazoori Ragi was found and thousands of people from the country and abroad, the martyrs' families, ex-servicemen, the army officers and the soldiers joined.
While addressing the function, the Manpreet Badal said that the Punjab government is proud that the Saragarhi day dedicated to the unique martyrdom of the martyrs of Saragarhi, is being celebrated as state level function.
He said that the example of Saragarhi's sacrifice is not found in the whole world when 21 Sikh soldiers bravely fought 10 thousand Pathans. and drank et an example of martyrdom.
On the demand of MLA Parminder Singh Pinki, Manpreet Singh Badal announced that the amount for the Saragarhi memorial, museum, as per requirement will be provided by the state government and with the state of history of Saragarhi, the students and the people of the country will be put wiser.
He said that the Punjab Government was fully committed to the overall development of the border district of Ferozepur. He said that the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, will work with full dedication to fulfill the dreams of martyrs to eradicate corruption, unemployment, illiteracy, illiteracy and elimination of drugs.
He also thanked the delegation of the British Army, the martyrs' families, the former army officers, the jawans, the army officers, and the people from abroad and abroad.
On this occasion, a book of in-depth research on Battle of Saragarhi by Capt Amarinder Singh was presented to the various personalities.
In his address, the Cabinet Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu presented a tribute to the martyrs of Saragarhi and assured the people that the Punjab government was fully determined to realize the dreams of martyrs. He said that he goes on a promise to people today that MLA Parminder Singh Pinki will be given a blank check and he will fill the amount which will be required for the martyr's memorial.
He said that in consultation with the Chief Minister the museum, library, etc. would be created in memory of the martyrs of Saragarhi and funds for the purpose will not be a problem from the Punjab government.
He said that we all need to get inspiration from the martyrs of Saragarhi who have sacrificed their last ditch for their country's protection.
On this occasion, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot presented floral tributes to the martyrs of Saragarhi and said that only 21 men fought against 10,000 soldiers during the war of Saragarhi and by the sacrifice of these martyrs, we were enjoying independence. He said that Punjab is also proud of the fact that Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh himself is a former military officer who participated in the 1965 war. He said that the Chief Minister declaring Saragarhi's day as a holiday in state level ceremony is a historic decision in itself.
Parminder Singh Pinki presented floral wreaths to the martyrs of Saragarhi and put forth the demand for the development of museum, library, auditorium to which assurance was given by the Chief Guest and fellow ministers.
During the function, heirs of Saragarhi martyrs, British Army Brigadier Timbaugh John Seal and associates, historian Gurinderpal Singh Joson, former officer of 4 Sikh Regiment Brigadier Kamaljit Singh, Colonel BS Chahal, Capt Amarjit Singh Jeji, ex-servicemen and their Assurances were also honored.
Chairman of Saragarhi Memorial Management Committee Major General Rajesh Kundra, GOC, Sri. Sumer Singh Gurjar Commissioner, Deputy Chairman-cum-Deputy Commissioner. Ramvir Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal, Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu and Mr. Sadhu Singh Dharmasot, Brigadier Jatinder Singh Arora Director Sainik Welfare Pb. and Col (Rt.) Amarbir Singh Chahal District Sainik Welfare Officer, were honored with the memento.
In the beginning of the ceremony Dr. Rameshwar Singh gave detailed information about Saragarhi's history. The exhibitions showing the development of various departments were also organized.
On this occasion, the Guru's continuous langar was also distributed. Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ramveer thanked all the guests for the success of the event and was honored by the Indian army officers and especially 11 Sikh Regiment.
