Reeling under financial crisis, farmer ends life in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, June 19, 2017: A 40-year old farmer Sukhminder Singh, of village Markhai near Feroepur committed suicide after consuming poisonous substance.
As per the information, Sukhminder Singh was cultivating the vegetables by taking the land on contract in the village Mahia Singh Wala. Because of not getting a suitable price of his vegetables produce in the mandi while the prices of in-puts and contractual amount was increasing, he was under depression because of financial crisis.
On Monday, he committed suicide by consuming some poisonous insecticide. Immediately on getting the information, the police took the dead body to the civil hospital Zira for post-mortem.
The body was handed over to the family members after the post-mortem for cremation. The deceased is survived by one son, two daughters and wife.
However, the police have not found any suicidal note from his possession.
