Killing of two Akalis in Ferozepur : Sukhbir Singh Badal SAD President to join protest today
Ferozepur, May 4, 2017: The GT Road blocked on Wednesday near Octroi Post No.7 in protest against the attack on the family of Akali leader Balwinder Singh -wherein his father Harnam Singh and brother Joginder Singh were killed, while he sustained bullet injuries – was lifted on assurance from SSP Gaurav Garg, Ferozepur.
Refuting all the allegations that the police were under political pressure the SSP said, the investigation into the incident is on and shortly the accused would be arrested irrespective of his political affiliation.
In the meantime, the Akali leaders and workers said the protest would continue till the arrest of the culprits and action against the SHO Kulgarhi police station who is instrumental in delaying the action on the various complaints lodged with the police.
The Akali workers had also sought the inclusion of more names in the FIR including that of Jasmail Singh Laddi Gehri, husband of Congress MLA from Ferozepur Rural Satkar Kaur Laddi who was earlier booked on the charges of killing of a youth, Nishan Singh outside a polling booth of Piareanawala village in 2012.
Sukhbir Singh Badal, Shiromani Akali Dal President is also likely to join the protest today.
On Wednesday, the protesters had said that the cremation of Akali works would not take place till the arrest of all the accused and inclusion of more names in the FIR. However, the sources said, Harnam Singh had three sones, one of whom stayed in the US and the family was waiting for him to arrive for the cremation.
