Ex-105 Bn BSF seizes 2 kg heroin at BOP Jagdish in Ferozepur Sector
Ferozepur, May 9, 2016: Today, Border Security Force has successfully seized 02 packets of contraband suspected to be heroin in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post Jagdish, Ex- 105 Bn BSF, Ferozepur Sector (Punjab).
This is the fifth heroin seizures during this year. Earlier, 65 kg heroin was seized by the BSF – 6 kg on Jan 6 at BOP Khemkaran, on Feb 10 kg at Mehandipur, 31 kg on April 18 at Barreke and 18 kg on May 6 at Karnail Singh Wala. Apart from this 14 Kg was recovered on March 20 4 kg and 10 kg on April 12 at Fatehpur and Mohinder BOPs in Amritsar sector.
Keeping in view the vulnerability of Border due to harvesting season and heightened activities of smugglers/ANEs on border, Shri Anil Paliwal, Inspector General BSF Punjab Frontier has issued operational guidelines to all the Sectors under Punjab Frontier for further strengthening the border domination so as to effectively check activities of Anti National Elements on Punjab border with Pakistan. Accordingly, Shri R K Thapa, DIG Sector BSF Ferozepur directed Field Commanders to maintain extra vigil on border to thwart the attempts of Anti National Elements. Tactical Operations are being mounted to foil the attempts of the smugglers/Anti National Elements.
Based on specific information about concealment of narcotics in fields ahead of Border Security Fence near International Border, on 9th May’ 2016, a Special Operation was carried out by Border Security Force troops in the area ahead of Border Security Fence in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post Jagdish, Ex-105 Bn BSF, Ferozepur Sector. At about 0915 hrs, during search of the area, BSF search party recovered 02 packets (approx. 02 Kgs) of contraband suspected to be heroin in between International Border and Border Security Fence.
The enhanced vigil by Border Security Force troops has once again thwarted the attempt of smugglers/Anti-National Elements to smuggle contraband items into India, said RS Kataria, DIG.
