DRI team and BSF nabbed 2 smugglers with 31 packets heroin in border village Bareke in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, April 13, 2016 : Today, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) team and Border Security Force (BSF) jointly nabbed two smugglers with 30 packets, later on confirmed as 31 packets, of heroin in border village Bareke near Indo-Pak border in Ferozepur District.
Border Security Force and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Amritsar have successfully apprehended 02 Indian smugglers and seized 31 packets of contraband suspected to be heroin, 01 Pistol (9 mm), 04 Magazine and 61 Rounds of ammunition on Punjab border on 14th April’ 2016 in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post Barreke, Ex- 105 Bn BSF, Ferozepur Sector.
Keeping in view the vulnerability of Border due to high grown wheat crops and heightened activities of smugglers/ANEs on border, Shri Anil Paliwal, Inspector General BSF Punjab Frontier has issued operational guidelines to all the Sectors under Punjab Frontier for further strengthening the border domination so as to effectively check any infiltration attempt and activities of Anti National Elements on Punjab border with Pakistan. Accordingly, Shri R K Thapa, DIG Sector BSF Ferozepur directed Field Commanders to maintain extra vigil on border to thwart the attempts of Anti National Elements. Tactical Operations are being mounted to foil the attempts of the smugglers/Anti National Elements
On 14th April’ 2016, Based on specific information of Border Security Force and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), a Special Joint Operation was carried out by Border Security Force and DRI Amritsar in the general area of village Barreke which falls in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post Barreke, Ex-105 Bn BSF, Ferozepur Sector. Acting on a tip off, the Joint Operation party apprehended two Indian smugglers namely Prakash @ Mantu (age approx. 24 years) s/o Piyara Singh, r/o Village- Barreke, Distt- Ferozepur and Angrej Singh (age approx. 20 years) s/o Lal Singh, r/o Ferozepur City along with 31 packets (approx. 31.150 Kgs) of contraband suspected to be heroin, 01 Pistol (9 mm), 04 Magazine and 61 Rounds.
