BJP still confused over to decide to contest independently or in alliance in Punjab
Triangular fight between SAD, Congress & AAP in Punjab Assembly 2017 Elections
Over to BJP!
Still one year is left for Punjab Assembly elections due in 2017 but all the political parties are trying to grab the opportunity by making ‘political strategy’ and the main contenders in this field are – SAD, Congress and AAP. All are planning their moves but BJP which has ‘sworn alliance’ with Shiromani Akali Dal, is undecided over contesting independently or in alliance.
Presently, it looks to be a triangular fight in Punjab Assembly 2017 elections between SAD, Congress and AAP who have become active right now.
While People’s Party of Punjab headed by Manpreet Singh Badal, one time a Finance Minister in SAD-BJP government, has announced to associate with the Opposition parties in case there is a grand alliance.
In fact, about one month back, there were no indications on this issue but with the changed circumstances – organizing Sarbat Khalsa, said to be organized by the Congress supporters, followed by Sadhbhawna Rallies by Badals, announcement of Kejriwal to camp in Punjab – the political analysis has totally changed. Earlier, it was a talk of the town that Akali Dal will repeat the history for another term.
But with the change of Congress leadership in the hands of Capt Amarinder Singh by High Command within a period of one month, the Congress has tried to establish the status of party.
AAP too have registered its attendance in Punjab by announcing the political line of attack. AAP is claiming to announce its candidates for Punjab by the end of June and Kejriwal is going to camp in Punjab from July. AAP also claims to have enrolled more than 25,000 workers at booth levels. In case the claim of AAP is true then the coming elections are going to be tough for Akali Dal and Congress as well.
On the other hand, Akali Dal is mobilizing the election move by organizing Sadhbhawana rallies in the state to activate its workers. To counter the rallies, Congress too have changed its style and organizing rallies to push up its workers. No doubt with the entry of Capt Amarinder Singh, the Congress workers have become active but they are still not able to establish their identity so strongly. In all these arrangements, BJP is the only party which has not disclosed its future plans and making the political analysts to keep on guessing.
Sometime back, BJP was claiming to contest the elections in Punjab independently and forming the government on coming in power in the Centre but after the result of Bihar elections, the BJP looks to be drooped.
BJP is not clear so far about fighting the coming elections independently or in alliance with the Akali Dal and the ground level workers are uncertain, confused, indecisive and double mindedness about the propaganda against or in favour of Akali Dal.
Frankly speaking, in case the BJP is not in a position to take the ‘political decision’, as to how it will land in political field for contesting 2017 elections despite the fact that it has reduced its seats from 12 in 20012 to 19 in 2007.
Over to BJP.
