‘Free Medical checkup camp’ by 11th Mohan Lal Bhaskar Art and Theatre Festival
Ferozepur: November 1, 2015 : 11th Mohan Lal Bhaskar Art and Theatre Festival today commenced with the ‘Free Medical checkup camp’ with the help of Amandeep Hospital, Amritsar at local Manav Mandir Senior Secondary School on Sunday.
Meanwhile Chief Executive Officer, Cantonment Board, Ferozepur Om Pal Singh, who inaugurated the medical camp, praised the efforts of Mohan Lal Bhaskar foundation in helping the poor and needy of the area by holding this medical camp.
Meanwhile, a multi specialist team of doctor from Amandeep Hospital, Amritsar including Dr.Abhishek Bansal (orthopadecian), Dr.Kanwarjit Singh (Medicine) and Dr.Mahipal Singh, MCH Plastic Surgery examined more than five hundred patients.
Prabha Bhaskar Pattern-in –chief of the foundation welcomed the guests while a number of patients were examined for different ailments who were also given free medicine besides various tests.
The event was organised in the memory of former Indian Spy in Pakistan, Mohan Lal Bhaskar who while working an agent with Indian Security agencies intruded sixteen times to Pakistan but held on seventieth visit due to breach by a double cross agent.
He was awarded death sentence by a Pakistani court but higher court reduced it to fourteen years of imprisonment and he was repatriated under Shimla agreement on December 9 1974 with the endless efforts of Harivansh Rai Bacchan.
Later on, Bhaskar narrated his experiences in the various jails of Pakistan in an autobiography under the title Under The Shadow of Bayonets and Bars which was awarded Saansad Sri Kant Verma National Award in 1989 by then Vice President of India and the book had been also published in various ten languages of India.
