A.K.Sinha Chief Adminstrator GMADA visits wheat procurement centres in Ferozepur to review arrangements

Ferozepur, May 1, 2015:  To review the wheat procurement, lifting and release of payments in Ferozepur District, A.K.Sinha, Chief Adminsitrator, Greater Mohali Area Development Authroity (GMADA) visited various mandis in the district today.  He was accompanied by Er.DPS Kharbanda, Deputy Commissioner, Sundeep Singh Garha, SDM and heads of all the procuring agencies.

During his visit to the mandis – Rukna Begu, Ferozepur Cantt, Ferozepur City – Sinha had interaction with the commissioner agents, farmers, labour and transporters.  He directed the transport contractors to speed up the lifting operations in the mandis in the coming 2-3 days.

Er.DPS Kharbana informed that till Thursday evening, 5,85,845 MTs wheat has been procured in 131 centres in the district out of which about 2 lakh MTs have been lifted.

With regard to payment to the farmers, Er.Kharbanda said, the payment of Rs.200 crore have been released and an equal amount will also be released by today evening by all the procuring agencies. He however, expressed hope to lift atleast 50 per cent procured stocks from the mandis.

Later, Sinha also visited Talwandi Bhai and Mudki procurement centres and listened to the problems of the farmers, arthias and directed the concerned officials to sort-out the same.

Present among others on this account were, Sikand Heer, DFSC, Manjit Singh Sandhu, DMO, Nand Kishore Googan, Satpal Singh Talwandi Bhai Member, SGPC, Rattan Lal Chhabra and officials of all the procuring agencies.
