Government gives distorted facts about grant of Rs.13.50 crore : Pinki
“Credit War” between SAD-BJP & Congress startsover grant for Hussainiwala Martyrs’ Memorial
Ferozepur, March 28, 2015 : Virtually a ‘credit war’ has started over the allotment of funds for Martyrs’ Memorial at Hussainiwala between SAD-BJP and Congress. The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, during his visit to Hussainiwala on March 23, to pay tributes to martyrs –Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev – did not announce a single new project for the border town despite putting forth various demands by the Chief Minister, Parkash Singh Badal and Punjab BJP President, Kamal Sharma.
It looks to be a lack of coordination between the State and Centre, for not announcing any project.
However, to cover the disappointing visit of PM, CM announced the sanction of Rs.13.50 crore on the proposal sent by the district administration, for the various development projects for Hussainiwala Martyrs’ Memorial, which is being termed as an ‘after thought’ to pacify the local citizens or to camouflage the blank visit of PM on the historic day and historical place – Hussainiwala where all the three martyrs’ were cremated after giving them death sentence on March 23,1931, i.e. one day before the scheduled date March 24 for hanging them.
The recent announcement of funds for Martyrs’ Memorial at Hussainiwala by the Chief Minister after the visit of Prime Minister on 23 March to pay homage, looks to be an afterthought just to cover to fulfill the hopes or expectations of the people of the border area.
The residents were hoping that Prime Minister would make an announcement concerning the issue raised especially the Hussainiwala border – known as the lifeline of local traders till 1971 when this route was closed.
The Chief Minister has announced Rs.13.50 crore on the proposal sent by the district administration, for the various development projects for Hussainiwala Martyr’s Memorial. Had this announcement been made by the PM or CM on the symbolic day, it would have more grace.
On the other hand, Parminder Singh Pinky, local Congress MLA speaking to this correspondent said PM has publicly admitted at the Shaheedi Conference that he has learned the art of politics from Parkash Singh Badal. This statement has become true from the fact that like Badal, PM is also misleading the people of Punjab by giving false statements. He said, he has got sanctioned the four lanning of Hussainiwala road at a cost of Rs.68 crore and P.Chidambaran Central Minister on his visit to Hussainiwala has sanctioned Rs.14 crore for construction of Hussainiwala Joint Check Post and Gallary, with addition of Rs.4 crore for historical Gurudawara Saragarhi. Whereas, PM Modi on his visit to Martyr’s Memorial did not announce anything special for Ferozepur.
He said, Parkash Singh Badal is misleading the people with regard to release of Rs.13.50 crore as this amount was sanctioned by the UPA government. He however, showed his concern for not announcing any project for the border town by PM.
He said, the people of the area have already faced two wars during 1965 and 1971 followed by floods in 1988 and a decade of terrorism and it would have more appropriate and announced a major project for this border town for employment of 40-50 thousand people of the state and keep themselves busy in their professions instead of drugs. He has even raised these questions in the Vidhan Sabha.
He further said, he will continue to work for the development of the city and there will be no shortage of funds.
