Railway is also fully ready to restore its services, DRM’s response on decision by Punjab farmers
Ferozepur, November 21, 2020: In response to the decision of the farmers to lift the rail blockades by November 23, Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Agarwal informed that such information has been received that the farmers will lift the dharna from November 23 and as soon as the process of lifting the dharna is completed by them, the Railways is also fully ready to restore its services.
The Punjab farmers have decided to completely lift their rail blockade from Monday – November 23, to allow all goods and passenger trains, in response to an impassioned appeal by CM Punjb at a meeting with Kisan Unions on Saturday.
The farmers had been protesting since October 23 against the withdrawal of anti-farmers three Farm Laws and blocked the railway tracks under rail-roko campaign. The farmers however, agreed to lift the blockade for movement of goods trains only to meet with the immediate supplies of essential commodities but the railway had been adamant to run the operation of both goods and passengers trains and suffered huge revenue in crores on this account. In the meantime, the railways had planned a massive protest at Delhi on November 26 and 27. However, today on an appeal from CM Punjab, the farmers had agreed to lift the rail blockade from November 23 and rail traffic is likely to be restored.
