60,000 ltrs ‘lahan’ seized from border villages in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, December 22, 2021: Working on the zero-tolerance policy against the illegal extraction of illegal liquor, the excise officials, in the raids conducted, under the supervision of Excise Officer, along with the borders villages, 60,000 ltrs ‘lahan’ was recovered. Earlier also a big haul of ‘lahan’ was recovered from the border villages.
The reason stated for why such illegal activities were being carried out mostly along the Sutlej, he said, villages are situated far away from residential areas and there was easy availability of water as well. The villagers don’t have many sources of income and have no choice except to do illicit liquor business as a source of income.
The recovered ‘lahan’ from AliKe and Habib Ke villages, was destroyed at the dry spots due to heavy quantity, to avoid its misuse. However, 28 tarpaulins were taken into custody.
