Restrict visitation and parole to prisoners found with banned items in Jail

Ferozepur, October 9, 2024: The recovery of mobiles and various other banned items, throwing of packets over the high walls, lax security arrangements continued in Ferozepur Jail and recently 6 throws have been found during the search operation resulting in the recovery of 5 key-pad mobiles, 2 touch screen mobiles, 2 data cables, one sachet tobacco and 110 gm open ‘zarda’ from 6 prisoners.

Deployment of limited security and resources with the jail authorities leads to the entry of banned items inside the jail from the prisoners or lying unclaimed. Since the recovery of mobiles and prohibited items from inside the jail the criminals, lost the purpose of being behind bars as punishment, as they remain in contact with the outer world for even illegal purposes, the only curb this menace of recovery of prohibited items is to restrict the visitation and parole to the prisoners from whom such items are recovered.

All the six prisoners already in the jail have been booked and identified as under trial prisoners, Sagar, Polus, Vishavjet, Pardeep Singh, Gurvinder Singh and prisoner Ladi, under Sections 42, 52-A of Prisons Act, on the complaint of Superintendent Jail and further investigations are on with Sarwan Singh, IO.
