32,000 ltr ‘lahan’ recovered in joint raid by Excise and Police teams
Ferozepur, November 19, 2020: During a special drive initiated to check the extraction of country-made and illiticit liquor In a joint raid by Excise and Police teams on the instructions of J.S.Brar, Deputy Commissioner (Excise) Ferozepur Conduct, conducted in the enclaves of river Sutlej in the surrounds of village Habib Ke, approximately 32,000 ltr ‘lahan’ was recovered.
Giving this information, Karambir Malha, Excise and Taxation Officer said, the recovered ‘lahan’ was destroyed on the spot to avoid its misuse. However, the infrastructure like thirty tarpaulins, four iron drums four aluminum utensils and nine tubes containing approximately 1,200 bottles of illicit liquor spotted at the working stills along the river banks, were also taken into custody.
He said, the police have been informed in this regard to register a case. No arrest could be made at the time of the raid, as none was available at the spot where this illegal work was going on.
ETO said, the department was keeping a strict vigil to check the working stills of country-made ad illicit liquor and to wipe out this menace, the campaign against the mischievous elements involved in this trade would be a regular feature on the basis of inputs and tip-offs about brewing illicit liquor and they will not be spared to face the music of law.
