3 SIM Cards prevented from entering Ferozepur jail
Ferozepur, June 24, 2021: During the search operation carried out by Satnam Singh, Assistant Superintendent, Central Jail, three mobile SIMs have been recovered from the jail inmate.
The smuggling in of SIM cards is evident that mobiles might have been available with the inmate. Last year, more than 1,500 mobiles have been seized from various jails in the state due to enhanced security measures but the incidents continue with new modus operandi, which poses a security threat to the jail. There had been incidents of throwing of mobiles and other banned items inside the jail over the high walls and mushrooming of high rising buildings around the jail premises has also posed a security threat.
As per the information, Paramjit Singh, an inmate, who is lodged in Ferozepur jail, came at the duty gate on June 23, to collect his clothes and on searching the clothes 2 SIM cards of Vodafone and one of Airtel were recovered. These clothes were given by the relative of Paramjit Singh inmate at the main gate by accused relative Gurcharan Singh of Tiwana Kalan under Jalalabad police station in Fazilka district.
On the complaint of Assistant Supdt. Jai,l Satnam Singh a case under Sections 52-A of Prisons Act has been registered against Paramjit Singh, an inmate who is already lodged in the jail and Gurcharan Singh, his relative. Further investigations are on to nab his relative with special focus on scrutiny of SIM cards for the backward and forward links, if any.
