3 Ferozepur jail inmates booked as mobile recoveries continue unabated, total reaches 344 during 2024
Ferozepur, August 21, 2024: Three jail inmates –identified as Navdeep Singh of Bathinda, Mohit of Kot and Sukhwinder Singh of Guruharsahai – were booked on account of the recovery of three mobiles from them, during the search operation conducted by Jasvir Singh, Assistant Superintendent. During the last week, 4 mobiles were recovered.
The recovery of mobiles from inside the jail continues unabated. As many as, 344 mobiles as of date including the recent recovery – in January 71, February 35, March 49, April 26, May 24, June 44, July 58, and August 37 – have been recovered from the jail during the search operations carried out or from the 137 throws from outside over the high walls, by unidentified persons, despite tight security. Not only mobiles, the other banned items like headphones, SIM cards, batteries, chargers, data cables, adapters, pen drivers and various other prohibited items of intoxicant capsules, powder, cigarettes, bidis, zarda sachets etc. Around 171 cases have been registered against the prisoners and unidentified persons.
According to the jail sources, there had been a reduction in the throw from outside with the deployment of extra QRT security, besides one DSP Security, and one Assistant Superintendent, at the sensitive points, in the open space and residential area who regularly do patrolling. However, with continuous recovery of prohibited items from inside the jail, has put a question mark over the security arrangements outside and inside at the entry points and the purpose of keeping the criminals behind bars as punishment is lost.
Meanwhile, in the instant recovery, a case under Section 52-A of the Prisons Act has been registered and further investigations are on.
