28,000 ltrs ‘lahan’ recovered in Beas and Sutlej enclave, destroyed to avoid its misuse
Ferozepur, April 18, 2021: In a joint raid by excise and police officials, 28,000 ltrs ‘lahan’ was recovered in the enclaves of Beas and Sutlej in the surrounds of village Marah at Harike.
This is the fourth recovery of huge quantity of ‘lahan’. Earlier recoveries were made – 13,000 ltrs on April 11, 12,000 ltrs on April 12 and 50,000 ltrs on April 17. In the past also there had been various operations had been carried out to thwart the attempt of sale of illicit liquor in the area. None of the accused involved in this could be arrested as they fled away from the scene on seeing the raided party.
The entire operation was carried out under the tutelage of J.S,Brar, Deputy Commissioner Excise by a team of excise inspector Gurbaksh Singh Zira Circle along with the excise, police force of Ferozepur and Tarn Taran.
During the raid 28,000 litrs ‘lahan’ was recovered and destroyed on the spot. The material like 8 big tarpaulins, 6 iron drums and 8 aluminum utensils were taken into custody as case evidence. Meanwhile a case has been registered at Hari Ke Police station and further investigations are on.
