26 Ticket Boxes along with record found missing in Roadways Computer Branch in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, July 20, 2017:  Out of total 217 Ticket Boxes, 26 boxes are reported to be missing and department is yet to take action against the delinquent officials.  The value of the tickets is said to be in lacs as the original record is also missing.

Stating this in the Press Conference at Press Club, Ferozepur, Jatinder Singh, President, Punjab Roadways-PUNBUS Contract Workers Union, Punjab said, during the checking on October 19, 2016, the ticket boxes, were found to be intact while one ticket machine was found to be missing when 81 ticket machines were on the route and 57 ticket machines were physically lying in the stock.

As per the official report, the recovery of missing machine was made and total 138 machines were found to be correct.

The Union leaders further stated that in the subsequent checking on March 17, 2017, against the total 217 boxes in record, 191 were physically found and 26 were shown as lost – 2 in Punjab Area, 11 Haryana, 1 Jammu, 5 Delhi of PUNBUS account and  6 Punjab and one of Jammu in Roadways’ account.

As per the information, the log book of the boxes was also checked and no attendance column has been filled in the register maintained in the computer branch from which it could be known of its issuance.  In the initial report, it was clearly indicated that two copies are prepared at the time of issue of ticket box.  One is kept in the record and second copy is dropped in the  box.  Since the original copy is not available in the computer branch record, the actual amount of the tickets cannot be ascertained.

In the report it is also indicated that these ticket boxed are kept in the computer branch whose staff is responsible for its safe custody.

The amount of the tickets in the missing boxes is said to be in lacs as in the absence of original copy of issuance order were not available; the exact amount cannot be ascertained.

When GM Punjab Roadways, Jagdip Singh Galwati contacted, confirming the missing of ticket boxes, he said, the whole issue is in his knowledge and he has initiated the probe, immediately to coming to know of the missing of the ticket boxed.

The enquiry was marked to the Station Supervisor (SS) who did not pin-point the officials responsible for the missing of the boxes.  Now the enquiry has further been marked to Traffic Manager (TM), who is away to Hazoor Sahib now days and as soon as he comes back, the enquiry will be expedited and action taken against the defaulting officials, whosoever may be – working or retired.

On asking about not lodging about the missing boxes, he said, since the departmental enquiry is going on and officials responsible for missing of boxes has not been prima-facie established, the FIR has not been lodged.  This action will be taken immediately on finalization of the enquiry  irrespective of officials on roll or retired.
