PCMA demands investigation in suicide of woman doctor in Rajasthan
Ferozepur, April 2, 2022: On Saturday, the doctors on a call from Punjab Civil Medical Services Association (PCMSA) hold a meeting to pay homage at Moga, by observing two-minute silence, on the death of Dr.Archana Sharma, a gynaecologist in Dausadistrict of Rajasthan, who committed suicide and in protest wear black badges on the arms and demanded an investigation in the suicide of woman doctor.
The woman doctor has allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself after an FIR was filed against her under section 302 of the IPC (murder) for the alleged death of a pregnant woman who she was treating.
Here’s what she said in the suicide note: “I love my husband and children a lot. Please do not harass them after my death. I did not commit any mistakes, did not kill anyone. PPH – Postpartum haemorrhageis severe vaginal bleeding after childbirth – is a known complication. Stop harassing doctors so much for this. My death may prove my innocence. Don’t harass innocent doctors. Please. Love you. Don’t let my kids feel the absence of their mother.”
Condemning strongly, Punjab PCMSA President Dr.GaggandeepSingh said that strict action should be taken against the police personnel who flouted the instructions of the Supreme Court not to file Form 302 without Inquiry and the political forces working behind it. In a letter to PM, IMA had also demanded justice for Rajasthan doctor who die by suicide, he added.
District President Dr.UpinderSingh and General Secretary Dr.Gauravpreet Sodhi strongly condemned the incident and demanded severe punishment for the culprits by investigating the suicide of a woman doctor.
