NGOs Coordination Society paste ‘reflective stickers’ to make roads safer
Ferozepur, January 19, 2022: Taking cognizance of the number of road accidents due to foggy weather conditions and poor visibility, the Ferozepur NGOs Coordination Society has taken the initiative to paste reflective stickers on the back and the front side of the vehicles, to reduce road accidents by making the roads safer for the vehicles.
Inder Singh Gogia, President, NGOs Coordination Society, Mangat Ram Anand VP, Balwinder Singh Gen.Secretary, Kamlesh Vohra, Sunder Lal and others members said it has been noticed that lack of reflectors on slow-moving vehicles, especially tractor-trailers that bring agri-produce to mandis during the procurement season, is resulting in mishaps.
He said, we have a target to paste 10,000 stickers during the next week and on the first day, around 1,500 stickers were pasted, in association with the police staff at Udham Singh Chowk, Ram Dev Chowk and on the Malwal Road by stopping vehicles at the accident-prone areas in Ferozepur in the hope of minimizing road mishaps and covering the hairpin bends and dangerous turns.
In the recent past, many people have lost their lives due to collisions between vehicles and tractor-trailers on highways, especially during night hours said Gurnam Singh, District Traffic In-charge police adding that the initiative by the local Ferozepur NGOs Coordination Society is a great contribution in reducing the road accidents by pasting the ‘reflector stickers’ on vehicles.
