12 mobiles seized from Ferozepur Jail in six days
Ferozepur, June 6, 2022: At least 12 mobiles have been recovered from inmates, gangsters, or from the packets thrown inside the jail including four on June 5 during the surprise checking of barracks.
Despite vigil checks at the entry point of jail, the smuggling of mobile phones is a continued process, putting a question mark on security arrangements.
During the search operation of barrack number 8 on Sunday, one mobile was recovered with SIM card from under trial prisoner Hamandeep Singh. Further during the further checking of different barracks, three more mobiles were found with SIM Card and battery.
While Namandeep Singh under trial is already in jail custody, a case under Section 52-A Prisons Act has been registered against the unidentified persons and investigations are on with Ajmer Singh, IO.
Earlier, on Tuesday, three mobiles were recovered from a high-security barrack, where a suspect in Mossewala’s killing was lodged before the SIT took him on production warrants and one mobile phone without SIM card from barrack number 11, during the checking by Gjurtej Singh, Assistant Superintendent of Jail.
